Ans.) ‘A Fellow traveler’ is a very prominent lesson by A.G. Gardiner.
The writer was traveling in a
night train. By and by the travelers alighted from the train. Then there came
in mosquito to trouble him. The writer tried big beast to kill it but failed
.He called it his fellow traveler.
At
first it came and sat on his nose. The writer flicked him off his nose. It made
a tour of the compartment-visited the window, light and came again on his neck,
he flicked him off again of the writer’s hand.
As
he had flicked him off for two times. How he was very angry with it. His attack
was very painful, he called it vagrant, public-nuisance, without ticket and a
warded him death sentences.
He stroke badly on it. But the
mosquito saved itself.
The angry insulted writer followed
everywhere in the compartment to kill it with his paper but it saved its life
like matador at last. He also followed the cunningness but it was all in vain
when feeling tired and helpless, the writer changed his mind and gave up the
idea of killing his fellow traveler, he accepted his moral defeat in fight. He
also felt a sense of love and petty lovers and became very kind to it. He
thought that no one should kill any creature in the world.
He
said, “Live And Let Others Live.” Thus the fight ended in peace.

Context: The writer was travelling by a
train and was left alone in the carriage as all other passenger had alighted
from it. He has described about his fellow-traveller that is mosquito.
Explanation: The writer says that travelling
in a carriage, all alone, which his moving alone jerkily at night making much
noise in a unique experience. It gives you pleasure of personal liberty. This
liberty is altogether unchecked and is infact very pleasing. You are free to do
whatever you like.

Explanation: The writer could not kill the
mosquito. Now he started having kindly feeling for mosquito. his sense of superiority began to disappear

and kind to the mosquito.

Explanation: In these lines the writer says
that life is the a great miracle of nature. Nobody knows exactly about his
life. The beginning and end of our life both are a mystery. All the creature on
his earth are fellow-travellers. None is superior or inferior. We take birth
but don’t know from where we have come. We struggle hard for our life in this
world for a short period. Then we go away from this world but do not know where
we have to go. This is the journey of our life.
