एक सुबह मौराद आराम के घर आया सफेद सुंदर घोड़े के साथ। आराम हैरान - इतना सुंदर सफेद घोड़ा कहाँ से? मौराद बोला - चुराया नहीं, बस लिया है, बाद में वापस कर देंगे।
आराम और मौराद घोड़े पर घूमते हैं, बहुत खुश। पर आराम को घोड़ा चलाना नहीं आता, घोड़ा भाग जाता है। मौराद घोड़ों को समझता है।
गाँव में जॉन बायरो नाम का किसान है, उसका सफेद घोड़ा चोरी हो गया। वह आराम के चाचा खोस्रोव के पास आता है, कहता है मेरा घोड़ा चोरी हो गया। खोस्रोव कहता है - चुप, परेशान मत करो।
बाद में जॉन बायरो आराम और मौराद को घोड़े के साथ देखता है, पर कहता है - यह घोड़ा मेरे घोड़े जैसा दिखता है, पर मेरा घोड़ा चोरी हुआ है, और तुम गरीब हो पर ईमानदार आर्मीनियाई हो, चोरी नहीं कर सकते, यह तुम्हारा ही घोड़ा होगा।
आराम और मौराद को शर्म आती है, वे घोड़ा वापस कर देते हैं जॉन बायरो के खेत में छोड़ देते हैं।
कहानी सिखाती है कि गरीब होने पर भी ईमानदारी जरूरी, चोरी गलत, चाहे मजे के लिए भी। आर्मीनियाई परिवार ईमानदार माना जाता है।
