लैबर्नम पेड़ पीला फूल वाला पेड़ है, सोने जैसा फूल। पेड़ के ऊपर सन्नाटा है, चुप है, पत्ते पीले हो गए हैं, सितंबर में।
अचानक एक गोल्डफिंच चिड़िया आती है, पीली चिड़िया, छोटी, बहुत तेज। उसकी आवाज चिर-चिर।
वह पेड़ पर आते ही पेड़ में जान आ जाती है, हलचल होती है। उसके बच्चे घोंसले में हैं, वे चिल्लाते हैं, चिर-चिर करते हैं।
माँ चिड़िया बच्चों को खाना खिलाती है, घोंसले में जाती है, बच्चे शोर करते हैं।
फिर माँ चिड़िया फिर से उड़ जाती है, सन्नाटा हो जाता है, पेड़ फिर चुप हो जाता है, पीला पेड़ खाली।
कविता सिखाती है कि माँ और बच्चों का प्यार, जीवन में हलचल माँ से आती है, माँ चली जाए तो सन्नाटा। प्रकृति और जीवन का चक्र।
